Los motivos / Motives

Cuando uno trabaja en su obra, se suele recurrir a lo que uno desea, a lo que a uno le interesa. Se decide explorar ciertos temas que, por diferentes cuestiones, se vuelven relevantes.
Aún así, hay  veces en que se nos invita a explorar un tema. Últimamente he estado trabajando el paisaje, tema pocas veces tratado por mi. Cuando decidí exponer junto con Ma. José Carregha  en Querétaro, el tema que se dió fue el de la naturaleza,  ya que ella había estado trabajando en las estaciones del año. Entonces comencé con el paisaje, lo que continúo explorando.
En otras ocasiones el tema se nos impone, por así decirlo. Hace algún tiempo se me pidió que pintara un búho, lo que hice gustoso. Son animales interesantes, y el reto técnico me motivó. Además, si tomé un curso de ilustración científica, me ofrecía la oportunidad de probar mi habilidad. El resultado creo que fue favorable.
Ahora tengo la ocasión  de probarme de nuevo. Me encargan un puma, su mirada. Vuelvo a sentir el reto de lograr la fuerza y presencia del felino, y probar la habilidad de lograr algo creíble.

When one is doing its own work, usually the tendency is to grab what we like, what we find interesting. One decides to explore certain themes that, for different reasons, become relevant.

Yet, there are times when we are invited to explore one particular subject. Lately, I have been working the landscape, a theme rarely painted by me. When I decided to show with María José Carregha at Querétaro, the subject given was nature, since she was working the seasons of the year. That's when I started to work with landscapes, subject that I'm still working on.

There are somo other times when a theme is imposed on us, so to speak. Some time ago, I was asked to paint an owl, which I did gladly. They are interesting animals, and the technique challenge motivated me. Besides, if I have taken a course in Cientific Illustration, it offered me the chance to prove my hability. I think that the outcome was good.

Now I have the chance to prove myself again. I have been comissioned with a cougar, its gaze. I feel again the challenge to represent the force and presence of the feline, and  experience the competence of making it look real.
